What Happened Here?

On April 20, at around 6:30 a.m. an Oxnard woman was killed in a vehicle crash in Carpinteria. The collision happened when a white Nissan panel van that was traveling westbound crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a Toyota Sienna.

A passenger in the Nissan, Martha Ramos Quintana, was killed. Five passengers, the drivers of both vehicles, and three passengers in the Toyota were taken to the hospital with injuries.

This crash is still under investigation, but police say that they do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be involved.

California Numbers

We know that this state has plenty of vehicle crashes. For the latest reporting year, there were around 278,000 total vehicle crash injuries and over 3,000 fatalities.

While we understand that most crash injuries are minor, please know that even minor injuries can lead to major medical bills. Now consider the following injuries that are common in the aftermath of a crash:

These injuries can lead to enormous medical expenses as well as other hidden accident costs:

  • Lost wages if the victim cannot work while they are recovering
  • Loss of enjoyment of life if they are disabled
  • Any necessary home or vehicle accommodations
  • Emotional or psychological damages

We know that many vehicle crashes occur due to the gross negligence of other drivers. This can include those who:

  • Operate while impaired by drugs or alcohol
  • Choose to drive while using their phones or other devices
  • Speed or drive aggressively

There are often many cases in which a person is injured in a crash with a commercial vehicle and may be entitled to more compensation than they have been offered.
