Child Injured After SUV Crashes Into Oxnard Home

Saturday, June 3, 2017

A girl was recently injured after an SUV crashes into an Oxnard home breaking down the toddler’s room. Two other girls in the room also suffered the effects of the accident but were not injured. The drunk driver fled the scene on foot immediately after the crash. A neighbor kept him until the police apprehended him. It’s not clear whether the driver was injured or not but his vehicle sustained significant damage. Some factors such as the driver’s age and impaired condition may have contributed to the accident. Contact an Oxnard car accident attorney if you have been injured in a collision.

The crash

The accident was reported on Sunday around 3 a.m. in Oxnard, LA. Although three girls were in the room where the vehicle crashed, the police reported only one sustained minor injuries. No details about his identity have been revealed and no estimate about how much damage the home sustained. Officers only said he was 19 years old and was drunk or on drugs.

Avoid drinking and driving

It’s obvious what alcohol and drugs can do to a driver. It will slow down responsiveness. The road is full of surprises and if you are not fully alert you will end up crashing into someone’s home or something worse. Without alertness, you have more chances of getting into an accident.

Alcohol

Depressant alcohol will slow down the central nervous system. In other words, you will not be able to perform like a normal person as brain functions are delayed. Hand-eye coordination, so essential to operating a vehicle, is significantly affected. The more intoxicated the driver is, the more chances to get involved in an accident and the more risk of injuries and deaths.

Drugs

Drugs can also influence your motor skills, judgment, memory, and reaction time. Whether prescribed or illicit drugs, when misused, drugs can alter the way you perceive the world around you and interfere with how you react to it. The percentage of drugged drivers fatally injured in a collision increase every year. As drug manufacturers come up with different drugs having new components, who knows what could happen on our roads in the coming years.

Young people driving under the influence

Everyone was once young and careless. A teen’s mind is still developing, therefore, it’s good to exercise caution when seeing them on the road. The lack of experience combined with the availability of drugs can impair them and lead to devastating accidents. In fact, vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death among teens.

DUI is a crime determined by the amount of alcohol in the system. A youthful DUI will show up in future records when the teen applies for a new school or job.
